The Real You

The Real You

A Poem by Bri

If you are in a place
where no one knows the real you
is there any telling who you are?
You could be colder than ice
nicer than possible
passive
or with motivation that makes you unstoppable.

If you are in a place
where no one knows the real you
are you any more than an empty shell?
You could be indifferent
with a personality so small
or have burning potential to outshine them all.

If you are in a  place
where no one knows the real you
is there a real you at all?
Do you decide who you are
or do peers decide for you?
With no room to change
and every move expected
you aren't the real you.
They are.
