Bittersweet

Bittersweet

A Poem by Bri

Bittersweet

Time is ticking.

I want it to stop.

But as the days go by,

I eagerly watch.

Every week that passes

Is another step

To the next chapter,

The last being left.

The subsequent to come

Is so bright and exciting.

But the one to be left,

So familiar and inviting.

Not that it’s a choice,

But which would I choose?

It seems as to gain

Is also to lose.

I’m ready, I know.

But once I leave,

It won’t be the same-

With everything put behind me.

And once the leap is taken,

There’s no returning.

So there’s really no choice-

Despite any yearning.
