Curiosity

Curiosity

A Poem by Bri

“Curiosity

Explain to me something,

Something I can’t understand.

Why can’t I see what you see?

But what you can’t I can?

And what makes us so different?

Why aren’t we the same?

And how was it decided-

The way we were made?

About this plan made for each of us,

With which we are a perfect fit,

Was it made for us?

Or were we made for it?

Where does talent come from, anyway?

And how are brilliant thoughts conceived?

What are feelings, really?

And what separates our wants from our needs?

It’s like a pounding in my head,

Wondering about what will never be said.

When will the painful questioning relent?

Or will there be no end?

And why do we have curiosity,

A thirst never to be quenched?

It’s a gift and a curse,

But which more so describes it?

Why are there some things we will never know,

Tormenting as it is?

Why can’t we be aware of everything,

Instead of kept in the dark like this?

Why?
