AutumnA Poem by Brett PritchardThe glow has faded, the gloom descends, can you still see me?
Autumns hand is nearing The leaves that were so bright and vibrant, they begin to fade and fall There is no fragrance to be smelt in the air… Only that of loss You looked at me with such joy, curiosity, how cold your gaze now Arguments and dishonest kisses The meadows we walked are stark and empty now, baron and cold Frantically we plant more seeds… But our efforts are individual not unified The leaves are drifting on the breeze, so far apart, so lost is what was Desperation and denial Each argument severs a new bond, opens a new wound, so much hurt We don’t mean what we say… Yet still the deathly dagger blows land Why did the sun leave, why now did it forsake our picture of love? Darkness and despair The light here is so dim, I see so little and feel less I can’t seem to find your hand in the gloom... Are you there? No, physically you remain but your heart has left My heart berates me, berates you, winter is in the air……
