Explaining Tears to a Child

Explaining Tears to a Child

A Poem by Brett Hernan

If
crying
changed
any
thing,
everyone
would be
crying,
all of
the time.

But,
they aren't,
because the only
things which make
one cry
are those
which one
can
not
change.

The only way
to stop
crying about
something
is to try
to change
it,
and,
if,
you can't,
then you'll just
have to learn
to
stop
crying.

Many people learn
how to give up
crying, regardless.

This
is why
there exist
some types
of crying
that
do not
involve tears.
