Future War

Future War

A Poem by Brett Hernan

Ideally,
the military
unilaterally
is abolished.
Nations
in dispute
elect their most
expertly proficient
online gamer warriors
(after a mutual agreement
to place
a working one hundred
megaton,
remote-controlled
by their foe,
nuclear war-head
under the mansion
of the former leaders'
of the disputing nations,
(just in case
of refusal
to comply.)
The caveat is;
the loser countries
must cede all control
of each war-head
to the winning
online gaming
team's nation.
That,
or we abolish
the redundant governments
of the world
as faulty representatives
of the population and create
an internet forum
where all policy is drafted
as legislation
by all of the
online volunteers
of the world.

Very imaginative and brilliant, though fantastic, solution to war and its inherent insanity. Staccato form that fits the subject. "The redundant governments of the world". Online war games. Great!
