What's Forgotten

What's Forgotten

A Poem by Brett Hernan

When afraid,
assume you are
truly brave and courage
must
flourish.

When weak,
be tender
to show
there's no
more war.

When strong,
only ever
be humble
and if you
bring out a weapon
you must use it
or they'll take it
from you
and justifiably
use it on you.

When sorrowful,
immediately embrace
the fainest glimpse
of humor.

When crying,
sob quietly.
(But sob
at least
three times
before stopping.)

When caged,
remember,
there has never been
a secure place built
to chain
the imagination.
