Modern Family

Modern Family

A Poem by Brett Hernan

There's
a
long
'family
tradition',
amongst the men
on Mum's side
of the family.

(Perhaps, because
she's one of those
eight sisters
to the
four brothers
that they are?)

Each of them
has successfully
formed a relationship
with a woman,

decades
younger
than
themselves!

They,

and

the

earth's
multi-billionaires!

Certainly,

none
of
whom,
were
brought up,
in a house, straight
across the road,
from the,

actual,
train tracks
for which,
the cliche
was formed,
i.e. the
colloquial descriptor
of the position,
'to be,
on the literal,
wrong side,
of those
two tracks.'

The house itself; put together
from ingredients
discovered, retrieved,
and recovered
from
the tip,
right
next
door.
