A Poem by Brett Hernan

In passing,
an empty bedroom,
from the hallway.
As deliberately,
it enters
the field of vision
at the precise actuating second
right before
the blind spot
eclipses, it
chooses to appear.
Thus,
it regretfully creates,
the addition of a vacuum,
(as opposed to
the removal
of the
already
semi-permanently
detached region
of darkness,
in darkness
occupies,
the seat of the
three-legged,
(painted with an enamel,
in a lime, meringue green),
'Dunce's Corner'
stool.
Here,
it is,
we find,
at last...
A macabre
surprise
birthday cake,
with party.
