Bottle of Love

Bottle of Love

A Poem by Brett

They say they are drunk off love, not knowing the hangover they are soon to experience.
If we were together, could we drink from each other forever, and become alcoholics of love?
Or will the bottle just run dry, leaving reality to grab me and end this constant feeling of sanity that I had once experienced.
Is it eternal love or is love just a half drank bottle that is destined to end soon enough?
I'm sure all those hungover souls who were once drunk off love, loved while drunk, or made love drunk, would agree,
this hangover leaves bruises,
much nastier than the headache from my JD.
When love is in the air, I'll surely hold my breath,
yet there exists a fear in me that one day I will need to gasp, and all the air will enter my body,
and I will sip from the bottle of love.
You and I will sit and drink, and find our peace of mind,
Can we drink from each other forever, and become alcoholics of love?
This answer we will one day find.

I may be overthinking this a bit, but love has nothing to do with addiction and dependency. Yes, I see getting "love drunk" etc... But if we are to really "sip from the bottle of love" we must be clear of mind and intention so as to provide the wine of love to our souls mate...

Ok, I did like the analogy, but it felt whimsical and thin rather than philosophical and deep.
Still, I believe many people look at love like this. "Addicted to Love" is and old fable after all.
Sounds like a great rock song to me.

I enjoyed the fresh tone Brett.

Like the idea of the alcohol and the love both being a kind of drug we use to intoxicate our souls and bodies...and unless we keep sipping from them, then we wake up with a hangover...!
Wise words indeed, enjoyed this piece...and the idea of alcoholics of love...I reckon it's possible..just haven't found someone to match it yet!

Only thing I might alter would be the layout perhaps....just tidy it up a little.
