Chapter 6: TransformationsA Chapter by Brett Zonkethis is the sixth chapterChapter 6: Transformations Ok, now that I know what the leader of Silver Moon is, I now need to find out who he is; for I only saw his creature form and not his Human. I stood up and dusted off. I looked deeply into his big, illuminating hybrid eyes; they sent a chill down my spine. This was unlike anything I’ve ever seen; his eyes were not yellow or red, but green. This new form he had taken has fused his wolf eyes and his vampire eyes to form a unique, set of eyes; eyes that could see further than the average wolf and vampire eyes. His tail was certainly longer than a usual wolf’s and his muscles were rather huge. Just the sight of his Hybrid form was enough to strike fear into the bravest of hearts. It didn’t take long for a conversation, between us, to form. “Who are you?” I asked nervously. He replied, “My name should be the least of your problems, child. I am the so-called ‘forbidden Hybrid’; I was banished from this school ten years ago and I have returned to see to it that it is destroyed.” Was he mad? Obviously he was strong, but he didn’t actually think he can do it with only two people helping him? “You would be mad to try and destroy such a school containing hundreds of specially trained students that would be more than glad to see the likes of you obliterated?” I asked. “You must be out of you mind…” “Who do you think you’re talking to, weakling!?” he screamed. I had triggered his bad side, or was this his good side? He went on saying, “I could kill you right now if I wanted to.” By this time, I had transformed into my werewolf form and was standing up to the hybrid. He immediately took hold of my right arm and carved something on it, using his razor-sharp claws. It was a strange, diamond-like symbol with some spell written within the diamond. The scar was painful, I screamed in excruciating pain. Wait, it was more of a roar than a scream. He then took a bite at my neck; like a vampire would. “Now you and I are alike; our destinies will be shaped in two identical parallel universes. We will meet again my friend, though the next time we meet, only one of us will walk away breathing,” he said, as the same smoke that had brought him to this location started to appear once more. I could see the shadows of the three mysterious creatures, fade within the thick, dark patch of smoke and as the smoke cleared away, it took the three with it. Today I had lived my worst nightmare, though I feared worse was yet to come. I turned to face Lord Meyio and Kurenzo; they still had pythons around their entire body. I don’t think they saw or heard what had happened. Just as before; Medusa’s strange powers could confuse you if you looked deep into her eyes. For some reason, I wasn’t affected by this at all. Maybe that’s how she wanted it to be like; maybe that Hybrid had wanted me there so he could speak to me in person, but why me? I walked over to Kurenzo and ripped the serpent off of him. He snapped out of the trance and shook his head. “What just happened?” he asked, confused of what was going on. “I’ll explain later,” I said, as I made my way towards lord Meyio. I ripped the snake off of him as well and I saw him get up, with his right hand scratching his head. “Are you both ok?” he asked us, but I was sad to have to tell him no. This mark, the Hybrid had implanted on me, what did it mean? “I’m fine,” said Kurenzo. Lord Meyio escorted us out of the arena and took us both to our dormitories. I went up to my room and went straight into bed. It had been a long, interesting yet painful day. A few thoughts were swarming around my head; who is the Hybrid? What does this mark on my arm mean? Do I now also turn into a hybrid? After all, he did bite me. I couldn’t believe that Phoenix was a member of Silver Moon. I went to sleep that night with all of these thoughts still in my head. The next day, we got up, got dressed and packed our bags to return home for the holidays. Everyone was excited to be heading home, but what really excited them was when I told them of my story of how I had come face to face with the leader of Silver Moon. Some didn’t believe me, some said I made it up, but others (who attended the duel last night) knew I was telling the truth. Whether anyone believed my story or not, I knew the truth of what had really happened and that’s all I needed to know. Tarrynkora, Siren, Ryuki and Ezier all met me by the loading docks; it was one of the only ways of getting from Roviera to Earth. Cody and Oblivion were also heading to Earth, same with Kurenzo and the pixie he had saved. Kurenzo’s friends were also coming along. We all entered the huge ship that was docked in the loading platforms. All our belongings would be taken into a special room that was built to hold infinity items; due to a spell Lord Meyio had charmed it with. A couple of minutes later, the ship was starting to back up from the docks and was heading out to sea. Our journey back home had begun. On and on the ship sailed. Somehow I could tell we were getting closer and closer to our destination. For starters; I couldn’t see lord Meyio’s castle anymore, I couldn’t see the huge wall that shielded the school and the sun was setting. The captain of the ship, Capt. Arnold Von Helsing, had told us that when we saw the sun starting to set, we would be only a few minutes away from arriving on Earth. Strangely, he was right; I looked up ahead of the ship and saw the City docks. There were other boats docked there, large and small. Some were loading ships and some were commercial ships. Alas, we came to a stop; we had arrived. We all got off the ship and headed outside. I took a big, deep sniff. Oh how I loved the smell of home. Tarrynkora, Ezier, Siren and Ryuki all followed after me. Within minutes, we had gotten all of our belongings and were ready to head home. We walked away from the docks and entered the city. Not long after, we saw a small, white bus pull over in front of us. We put our stuff in the back of the bus and went in. It took us all the way to our house, well, our house on Earth. Mom and dad were so happy to see us back. “How was school?” asked dad. “Pretty good,” I replied. “I met a lot of nice friends there and the teachers are very nice.” I didn’t take long for us to unpack our stuff from our bags. After all, we did have wolf abilities to help us. While we were on Earth, we couldn’t use our wolf powers unless it was for an emergency. Guess I already had broken that rule when I had that fight with Kurenzo. Speaking of which, I wonder where he is right now. It had been three days since our return from Roviera and the boys and I had planned to go look for any of the Silver Members around the city. We all split up; Siren went in the south direction, Ryuki went in the North direction, Tarrynkora went in the west direction, Ezier went in the north-west direction and I took the east direction. We all had walkie-talkies; to communicate whilst on the look-out. I had been searching for about thirty minutes and I still hadn’t found any Silver Moon members. Perhaps they were way too smart to come invade Earth. After all, it would be stupid coming to the one realm that didn’t know about the existence of magical creatures. Unless…Yes that’s it! That has to be it! If he didn’t have an army, not many magical creatures would want to join him, but other than asking magical creatures, he could turn any human into a Hybrid as well and use them as his army. The only question was; where would he find a large amount of strong humans? Better yet, where wouldn’t he? He could bite any random person on the street and use him as a slave. I was beginning to have second thoughts about this theory; would Silver Moon be that desperate for reinforcements to use humans? I decided to start heading home; it was getting dark after all. I was walking through a dark alley when it happened. The mark I had been given earlier by the Hybrid, it was, on fire. My arm felt as if it was being cooked in a furnace. I dropped to my knees in pain. “Urrghh!!” I yelled. I was feeling excruciating pain at that moment, and I couldn’t do anything to stop it. I looked on my right arm and saw the markings glowing. What kind of mark was this? Was this the doings of a sorcerer? Whatever it is, it told me that Silver Moon was near and I was right. I looked in front of me and saw a figure of a man wearing a silver, hooded cloak. The colour of the cloak was silver and it seemed to shimmer in the moonlight. The stranger started walking slowly towards me. I heard him utter, “So long as you have that mark on your arm, I can trace wherever you are”. So, that Hybrid thing had placed this mark on me so he could later on follow me? Why? Did he feel threatened by me? Did I have something he wants? “It hurts!” I screamed. “Silver Moon delivers far worse pain than that,” he muttered, still slowly making his way towards me. For a moment, the pain seemed to have faded. I got up to my feet and stood my ground. I wasn’t about to let this stranger take advantage of me because I was weakened. I remembered how we weren’t allowed to use our powers in the human world. Forget that, this was a real emergency. At that moment, my eyes changed colour; they went from dark brown to a floral yellow. My white, silver fur had covered my entire body with itself and my mouth had turned into a snout. Within seconds, the full transformation was complete; I was now in my werewolf form. Whoever this guy was, he was about to learn not to mess with Breticon Syrophia. Sadly, he had to learn the hard way. I started charging at him on all fours, like a dog. I ponced at him, with my claws drawn out to strike him with, but he somehow managed to teleport from where he was standing to behind, where I was standing before. I stroke the ground and turned around, to see where he had landed. I was becoming furious with this guy; not only did his master inflict a painful scar on my arm, but now he had the nerve to play chase with me? Something happened to me at that moment; my back became very sore and my eyes felt as if they were being pierced with a hot, metal rod. What was happening to me? Was this the scar acting up again? After 7 seconds of excruciating pain, I had changed form yet again. This time, I had grown a pair of huge, white bat wings behind my back. My eyes were now a purple-like colour and my fur had become thicker. My muscles had also enlarged and my seven senses had increased. I looked at the moon and let out a huge, nerve racking howl; I had transformed into a Hybrid wolf. I was now three times larger than my original size. What had happened to me? I was too angry to think. I turned to look at the man who favoured the evil doings of the one who turned me into this monster of a hybrid and charged at him. I certainly felt faster, stronger, smarter, better. I leapt at the man at fast speed, though in my eyes, he seemed to be moving in slow motion. Was this one of the abilities I gained when I changed from a werewolf to a Hybrid? Whether this new form was for good or evil, it felt good. I stroke the man with my deadly, razor sharp claws like a lightning bolt striking hard on the Earth’s surface. My attack had gone along successfully and now my foe was lying still on the ground, half dead I hoped. The force I put in the attack seemed to show when he was barely moving a muscle. I looked at my paws, had I truly gained extra strength from the transformation, or was it part of my werewolf pack abilities? Soon after, the man got up. He dusted himself off, as if nothing had happened to him and took off his hood. Immediately, I could see a jackal-headed man wearing nothing but a robe, to cover his lower body and some ancient Egyptian jewellery around his neck. I assumed he was a phantom ghost of ancient Egypt. He didn’t seem to care that humans could’ve spotted him. He looked up at me and gave off a beastly grin. “I’m not here for you,” he said. “I was sent here on Earth for something far more valuable, the golden armour of Ra.” When he mentioned this, a chill went down my spine. The golden armour of Ra was said to have the power to grant the wearer of it the ability to travel from this dimension to the dark dimension, there laid the king of all demons himself; Hedes. If Silver moon was to somehow bring Hedes back to this dimension we would all parish under his reign. The jackal-headed man ran, or should I say floated, towards me with his right fist out ready to punch me. I looked back at him and let out yet another growl, this time it seemed to have turned itself into a hurricane and was headed towards him. As soon as it came into contact with his body, it sent him flying backwards in the air. He landed in the middle of the road, with cars driving past him, cars that belonged to humans. I almost thought that our secret had been discovered, until I looked back at him, who now seemed to have his normal human head back. He had short, black hair that seemed to be spiked up with hair gel. I didn’t get a glimpse of his full facial features before a wave of cars rushed past the man and he disappeared as the cars cleared. I could no longer see a short, black haired man lying in the middle of the road. I, on the other hand, was still in this hybrid body. It didn’t take long for me to realise that wherever this jackal-headed man had disappeared to, was where Silver Moon’s hideout was. I didn’t want to be late home, otherwise mom and dad would freak out and send me back to Five Arrows Academy before the holidays were even over. I dropped to the ground on all fours, like a dog and ran towards where I thought home was. Along the way I was joined by four other werewolves. These were my friends, Siren, Ryuki, Tarrynkora and my brother Ezier. None of them had found any members from Silver Moon, but I had. When we got home that night, mom and dad told us that they were starting to get worried, and I can’t blame them. We had been away from home for more than 5 hours and I did encounter a member from Silver Moon along the way, but I didn’t tell them that. I also didn’t tell them that I had changed into a Hybrid, because I’d also have to tell them about me using my werewolf form out near humans. Later that night, when mom and dad both went to bed, I gathered the boys and told them of the transformation. © 2013 Brett ZonkeAuthor's Note
