School in another realm The next morning, we got up pretty early in the morning, at about four a.m. We packed our bags and instead of carrying them with us, Lord Meyio had given all the qualified students a spell to use on our belongings that would teleport them to the school’s keep in an instant. The spell went like this, ‘Holocaster Amono Deotry’. As soon as I had said it, a flash of green eyes blinded us from seeing our items and as soon as it cleared, our bags had vanished. Later on that morning, we ate our final meal, before heading off into the dense forest, somewhere in California. “Good luck my sons,” said my father, as he said goodbye to me, my brother Ezier and Tarrynkora. “So, ready guys?” asked Tarrynkora. I replied saying, “Sure, let’s go…” And with that said, we all changed from our human forms, into our wolf forms and dropped on the ground on all fours… We ran past huge boulders, through the forest bushes and past countless trees. We charged up hills and dodged hanging vines. We ran like we’ve never ran before. I looked slightly up, as I was running, and I could see a beautiful array of illuminated sunlight, reflecting through the gaps between tree branch and tree branch. It was a beautiful sight to see, but this was soon spoiled by the noises we could hear, coming from a short distance away. It sounded like a dog screaming and growling. We came to a halt and listened carefully, for the direction in which the noise was coming from. We listened and listened well, until suddenly, we all could tell where the scream was coming from. It was a nearby lake, one we hadn’t passed through before. We quickly ran towards that direction. When we were only meters away from the area, we stopped again, for now we could see who was screaming: It was Ryuki and Siren. I took a deep breath, before turning my head towards the other men that were surrounding them. Each of the strange men was wearing a silver robe, with hoods covering their heads. It seemed that there were only 3 of these men, but somehow they had managed to overpower both Ryuki and Siren, but how? Tarrynkora, Ezier and I decided to use a ambush technique to rescue our friends: I would attack from the front of the attackers, whilst Tarrynkora attacks from the west and Ezier attacks from the East, forcing the men to retreat in the South direction. We quietly snuck into our positions and waited for Ezier’s signal before we pounced. “We don’t know anything,” I heard Siren say. “You’re lying. You know where the cup is” spoke one of the men, and at this moment, Ezier gave me a quick wave, before turning towards Tarrynkora to give him the same signal. He then changed into his werewolf form, looked upwards towards the sky and let out a loud howl. I then jumped out from my hiding spot and landed in front of the first of the three men, the one who had been standing in the middle of the other two men. Tarrynkora soon followed after me, from the west and landed next to the man to the left of the man in the middle. Ezier was the last to pounce, as he now landed next to Ryuki and Siren, who were both tied up to a tree. The shock of being ambushed by three werewolves must’ve caused the cloaked men to evacuate, for we couldn’t see them anymore and their footprints suggested that they ran away in the direction we had earlier predicted. I stood up on my hind legs and returned to my human form. Tarrynkora did the same but Ezier simply stood up on his hind legs. He clawed at the rope that was holding the two, defenceless boys, setting the both of them free. They soon got up and explained what had happened. “We’re so glad you came. We were taken in prisoner by those strange men last night, when we were looking for Ominous,” spoke Siren. “Wait, Ominous wasn’t the one who kidnapped you?” asked Ezier. Siren shook his head and said, “No, we weren’t captured by a vampire. It was something else. A man in the form of a shadow, I think.” Their story was far too interesting to be ignored, but sadly, we had to advance to the academy. So we all took our wolf forms and continued our journey towards Five Arrows Academy. Not long after we had freed Ryuki and Siren from the kidnappers, we came upon a large gate. When I say large, I really mean large. It was the size of, what the humans call, a sky scraper. Connected to the gate from either side, were two very large walls, which seemed to sparkle in the sunlight. From where we were standing, we couldn’t see over the wall at all. We barely could see the top of the gate! We slowed down and slowly walked up to the large gate. It had no handle or key hole. How do we get in you ask? Simple, through the walls, but one wall leads to the realm of Roviera, the same realm Five Arrows Academy was, whilst the other leads to the dark realm of Doomegedon. Lord Meyio had said that there was a special word that would show us the right wall to pass through. The word was, hieroglyphic. Lord Pharaoh, the fourth Genko member and leader of the phantom ghosts, had come up with the idea for this password himself. “Hieroglyphic,” I said, and just as I said it, the wall on the left, glowed a bright purple colour. Why purple? It was Lord Meyio’s favourite colour of course. All five of us walked through and there it was: the Five Arrows Academy castle. It was a large white castle, though it looked more like a city than a castle from the inside. It was surrounded by a large, transparent dome made up of magic. We made ourselves towards the large door bridge, before the guards let us in. Everywhere I looked, I could see students with books, all wearing the standard Five Arrows Academy uniform. Boys wore a white long-sleeved or short-sleeved shirt, on top of either long white pants or shorts. Girls wore a white long-sleeved or short-sleeved shirt, along with a short, white skirt. Both girls and boys had to wear the Five Arrows Academy badge, which was a small, purple rose inside a blue ring, with a golden ribbon on the bottom of the ring. I could see some students with long, pointy ears and noses, maybe they were the elves. I could see some floating in mid-air, they could’ve been the phantom ghosts and some wore long, white capes. Tarrynkora and I suspected that the ones with capes were the vampires, but it was just a theory. We saw someone that seemed to be a teacher, coming towards us. He had short, blonde hair. He was wearing a white jacket with the same Five Arrows Academy badge on his chest, along with two other badges: one had the head of a wolf with a blue and gold ribbon running down it and the other was a simple cloud with a silver and gold ribbon running down it. He spoke to us saying, “Hello there newcomers, welcome to Five Arrows Academy. Have we met?” After him saying this, I began to think that I actually knew him. Though I couldn’t actually piece together the exact time, place, day or year, something about him told me that I knew him from somewhere. It wasn’t long before we found out that the teacher that had greeted us was sir Ketto himself, the alpha male of the wolves, the leader of Genko society and the owner of Five Arrows Academy’s arena. I was so anxious to hear the story about the fifth, Genko member. I wanted to be the first to find out who he was and why he left the society in the first place. Sir Ketto escorted Ryuki, Siren, Ezier, Tarrynkora and I to the newcomers’ platform. This was our first year at F.A.A (Five Arrows Academy) and we didn’t have the uniforms or any of the school books, if we used books at all. When we arrived at the platform, we noticed that the huge room we were in was filled with young Vampires, Werewolves, phantom Ghosts, Elves, pixies and Humans! Yes, humans! We thought this school was only for mystical creatures, but no, I could see a lot of humans as well. Across the room, I could see my worst nightmare. The thing that made me, want to drop out of this school so soon and burn my eyes with acid for eternity. I saw…Ominous, accompanied by the other vampire twins we had fought last week. ‘What were they doing here?’ I thought to myself. In the centre of the room was a small, square and slightly taller platform. Green smoke appeared from the sides of the tall platform, covering up the top of the platform with a thick, cloud of green smoke. I could see that everyone else was also stunned by the unusual display. A few seconds later, the smoke cleared and revealed a tall, spikey-haired male figure. The man was wearing the same uniform as sir Ketto was, but he seemed to only have two badges, unlike sir Ketto, who owned three. One was the F.A.A badge and the other was a silver star with a green and silver ribbon hanging down from the bottom of the star. The man began to speak. He said, “Welcome, newcomers. This, is, Five Arrows Academy. My name is Medio Carster, but you may address me as Sir Carster or sir Medio. I am a sorcerer, just like Lord Meyio himself, the Headmaster of Five Arrows Academy. I’ll be teaching you all basic spells that can even be done by humans, though still are effective enough to kill and brutally wound, though that is not always the case. Some of my spells can heal, some can wound. Some can enchant a lover of yours into finding you attractive and others you can cast of your friends to make them seem unattractive. I look forward in teaching you all about magic spells and I hope I hear great news about you all. Til then, I bid you a farewell.” When he had finished his speech, everyone in the room applauded him. Likewise, he took a short bow, before vanishing in the puff of a cloud. So he was also a sorcerer, just like Lord Meyio. At this moment, more teachers had arrived, all with the standard teaching uniform along with two badges: the F.A.A school badge and a silver or gold star. I didn’t quite know what the silver or gold star badges were for, but maybe there would be a class on the school badges and their meanings later on. Some teachers were male and some were female. They all had their own teaching areas: some teaching physical things and others, mental things. I was looking forward to my first lesson: survival. © 2013 Brett ZonkeAuthor's Note
