Sideline

A Poem by Brenden

He looked at her with the lust of a lifetime

A unrequited love

Only wish on his mind was there was more time

Another man possessed his muse

Although she wasn't happy she appeared to be fine

Treading a line between use and abuse

She longed for him but wasn't allowed to show

Years have passed wasted behind a lie

That she wasn’t in bliss but alone

And she longed for him

And he longed for her

But Life had a different course

No matter the remorse

No matter the want

No matter the thirst

He had to watch from the sideline

As she was forced to play on

Begging to be walking on her own

He begged for her to be on her own
