Like The RavenA Poem by Brenden MoranMockeries are like the raven’s call They peck their beaks into my eyeballs They mine for gold they will never find And leave nothing leftover once they’ve dined
Rumors are like the raven’s claws For they both serve a similar cause They shred their way into your innocent breast To find a beating heart to devour and digest
Fear is like the raven’s beating wings Like the paranoia that haunting footsteps bring And the celestial bodies bring its shadow down Like a caper that surrounds me all around
Delusions are like the raven’s eyes To lock with them is to say your goodbyes They watch from above with their bird’s eye view Thinking about where they’ll run their talons through
Insecurities are like the raven’s feathers That are attached to me like a ball and chain tether Like cardboard armor giving that false sense of security Ready to break open and release my purity © 2012 Brenden MoranReviews
