Animal Madness

Animal Madness

A Poem by Brenden Moran

I vow not to be the fatted calf

For he is the first to go

I wish to be the galloping horse

And eat the summer snow

I will not dare to run amuck

Save that for mother goose and hen

I promise to be on my best

And not prey on innocent men

I could also be a swimming fish

No great shark or sea lion

Or just be plain and boring

And fly like an eagle soaring

I shall race through the forest like a chipmunk

And leap on a lily pad about sunk

I really am a frog right now

Jumping to and fro across the air

I love the wind on my feathers fair

Ne'er the wild boar upon this moment

I'm a dash of flamingo I fancy my bonnet

Not some lame cat or dog

Or a hound completely lost in the fog

But a great white elephant so rare

With his peacock and colors fair

Running across the seas and the oceans

And they think I have crazy notions!

Author's Note

Brenden Moran
This is more of an attempt at Dr. Seuss style which I did inadvertently. It is supposed to be nonsensical and funny at moments yet be strict to the rhyme.

Not bad at all I think you’ve done a great job in bringing this together with a nursery rhyme touch. Keep on writing.
