Freedom On The Moors

Freedom On The Moors

A Poem by Hayden Chambers

There's freedom on the moors

Truth in the Lochs

Hope lies in the Minch

Promise on the Cuillin

An honesty in the history

No room for passing fashions

The empty, vacant trends of the mainland

From strong roots grow the largest trees

The culture here is ingrained. It is everything

It lies heavily across the land

As a comforting winter's quilt

You are safe in it's folds

The endless miles stretching before you

Heather dancing in the breeze

You know where you are

When you're here
