“The Fox Hole”

For all that I can see are destroyed earth,

Fox holes covering either side

I can know when I shelling will begin again,

the Gerrys have been bombarding us for

years, there seems to be no end of it all

Everytime that I try to sleep, I am awakened

By yet another bombardment

I hate this mask, everytime the launch another gas

Attack, I end up sleeping it this horrible mask

In my sleep, I am laying against a fox hole wall,

A webley revolver in my shaking hand, the only

Thought is end it

Will it hurt, will there be a bright flash of light,

The feeling of the gun up to my chin

Will I go to Hell?

It feels like I am already in Hell, consumed by

The flames of dozens of explosions surround me

Should I end it I think? I awaken to be

Back into Hell…This war will never end.

You brought me there to that Hell on earth, that claustrophobic existence, that sleeplessness, for one moment I forgot I was in my living room, thank you.
