Meeting Drake / Silas?

Chapter Two
Silas and I walked to school during the fall and spring. I would walk him to his elementary school and then walk a little ways up the street to my high school. It was never so cold that we couldn't walk, but once snow hit the ground or the temperature got below 30 degrees Addicus would insist on driving us both to wherever we needed to go. It had snowed last night and I was going to tell him to let us walk until Silas had slipped on ice. I didn't need him breaking something on the way there, so I reluctantly ushered my brother into the car. He got in the backseat of Addicus' 2000 Toyota Camry. I got into the passengers seat and put my seat belt on, bracing myself for the anxiety about to hit me.
As I took long, deep breaths I saw Addicus glance at me while he was driving from the corner of my eye. "You doing alright, Bren?" He asked me. He knew I didn't like closed in spaces.
I waved him away. "I'm fine. Focus on the road." He nodded and didn't say anything else. We pulled up to Silas' school and I got out as he did. I pulled a few bucks out of my pocket, realizing we never stopped to eat.
"Here, Silas. Grab something from the cafeteria before you head to class, okay. And, turn in all of your homework today, huh?" I said as I ruffled his hair.
He shrugged. "Yeah. Okay, Bren. Will you be here to pick me up later?"
"Yeah, I'll be here," I said as I glanced back at Addicus who was staring at us.
"Addy gonna be here too?" He asked.
I shrugged. "Probably. You know how he is."
He laughed a little. "Yeah, I know."
I sighed. "Head inside. I'll see you later, Silas," I yelled over my shoulder as I headed to the car.
I got in the car and looked at Addicus. "Come on, we're gonna be late."

The entire school day dragged by slowly. I had few friends at school aside from Addicus and we only had Chemistry and lunch together. I got to the lunch room, immediately sitting at a round table in the back and taking out my lunch. I bit into my sandwich, looking up as someone across from me cleared their throat.
There was a guy staring at me with a small smile plastered on his face. He had slightly long brown hair that fell in front of his smiling hazel eyes. He was at least a foot taller than me seeing as I only stood at five feet. His skin was tan and it looked like he hadn't shaved in a few days. What really intrigued me was the tattoo on his left arm. It was beautiful and intricate and went all the way down to the back of his hand. I wondered where it started.
I just sat there, staring at him like an idiot until he finally cleared his throat again and said, "May I sit?"
I blinked a few times and just nodded a silent "yes" because I still had food in my mouth. He shuffled into the seat across from me and looked down at his book in front of him. He took a deep breath and said, "Uh, my name's Drake."
I quickly swallowed my food and said, "I'm Brenna-Lynn. But, I usually just go by Brenna."
I looked up as Addicus walked over to us and looked back and forth between us, clearly confused. I nodded to Addicus and said, "This is my best friend, Addicus."
Drake nodded to him and said, "I'm Drake. Today's my first day here."
Addicus sat next to me and said, "Well, welcome."
"Thanks," Drake said quietly.
The silence dragged out a little long and I cleared my throat. "So, where did you move here from?"
"I lived in San Diego," He answered, looking back and forth between us.
"Well, welcome to New York. Not used to all the snow?"
He shrugged. "It doesn't bother me."
Addicus abruptly stood up. "Well, this has been fun, but I'm gonna head to the library to get some work done."
I glared at him, knowing he never left any work until last minute. He winked at me and leaned down to kiss the top of my head. "See you in Chem, Bren."
I stared at the back of his head as he walked away. The kiss wasn't weird. He does stuff like that, kissing the top of my head or my forehead before he head off, but never while we're in school and never in front of anyone except Silas.
I felt my cheeks get hot as I focused back on Drake. He shifted awkwardly in his seat.
"He didn't seem to like me much," Drake observed.
I looked down, wishing to be any but sitting in this seat. "Yeah, he's very territorial."
"Are you guys together?"
I chuckled. "Oh, no. It's not like that at all. He's my best friend."
Drake snorted and said, "By the look on his face it seems you'd be more than that if it were up to him."
I shook my head. "No, you're wrong. We're not like that."
He shrugged. "Whatever you say."
The bell rang and I all but ran out of the cafeteria. I rushed into Chemistry and sat at my dest next to Addicus, who was all ready there.
I glared at him, but he was sleeping so I nudged him.
"What?" He groaned into his arm.
"Seems like you've been here a while. Did you even go to the library?" I accused.
"Nope," He sighed. He turned his head to look at me with a bored look on his face. "Are you done being angry?"
I glared at him and turned to face the front of the room. Our teacher, Mrs. Flinn, walked in and got class started. I fell asleep a few minutes into the class.
"Brenna-Lynn," I heard my father say.
I turned to look at him. "What do you want now?"
"You're brother. I'm taking Silas. Do not try to go out looking for him. He will be with me. He is going to train whether you like it or not. He cannot protect you or himself. He knows nothing of our world. You have sheltered him too much and it stops now."
Before I could retaliate, he pulled out of the dream and I woke up. I looked around and realizing I was in my bed at home. I jumped out of bed and ran into the living room. I heard a voice in the kitchen and walked in to find Addicus on the phone. His face lit up as he saw me and he hung up on whoever he was talking to.
He ran over to me, pulling me into his arms. "I was so worried."
"Wha- What happened?" I asked, shocked.
"You fell asleep and when Flinn tried to wake you up, you just didn't move. She had me carry you to the nurse. I know your fear of hospitals and needles so instead I took you home instead." He paused for a second before pushing me away at arms length and saying, "Bren, we seriously need to talk."
I looked around. "Silas. Where's Silas? What time is it!"
He pulled me to the couch and made me sit down. He grabbed onto my hands and look me in the eyes. "Brenna, while you were sleeping I went to go pick him up. I went and.. He wasn't there, Brenna. He couldn't find him anywhere. I went in and they said his father had picked him up early. Brenna, you said your father wasn't in the picture and that's why you were here? I've been everywhere looking for him. I was just on the phone with the police. They said there isn't anyone by the name Silas Johnson anywhere. Not even at his school. I called back and it was like he never even went there. Brenna, what is going on?"
I put my face in my hands and started to shake. "Oh, God. No, please. I've lost him. I've lost him. No, I've lost him."
I knew I was getting hysterical as Addicus pulled me into his lap and the sobs took over and racked my body. We stayed that way until my body gave in and I fell back asleep.
