I AM STILL HERE

I AM STILL HERE

A Poem by Breana Seabrooks
"

A poem for my family to remember me when I leave for school this summer and in memory of my late grandmother, Adella Seabrooks.

"
I sense your love
And I sense your pain.
The way you feel,
It'll never be the same.
But I want you to know
That I am here.
I soon may be gone
And soon you will move on,
But please never forget
That I am here.
I know who you are
And I know what you like.
I know you feel bereft
And all alone
But just remember
That I am here.
One day you'll need me
And I won't be there
But even when I'm not
I do still care.
So with all of your heart
I am here.
Just call if you need me
And If I can
I'll be there in seconds
Because I am here.
Never forget me,
Keep me close,
Because in your heart,
You already know
I am still here.

I like how your writing is really stripped down. You don't screw with complicated metaphors or complex rhyme schemes; it's just raw, emotional poetry.

'Hi Breana. I think . . . you write from the heart!! I loved this!!! I adore the way you have interjected repetitive lines and they underscore the intent of your words and intensity of your love!! It doesn't always work, but for this poem . . . perfect!!! alf
