Fear

Fear

A Poem by Breana Seabrooks
"

A poem that says why we are the way we are.

"
I stared into the face.
The one that stared back at me.
A face I only knew as fear.
It kept me there
In my wake.
It wouldn't let me pass.
All I wanted was sweet release.
A release from the world
That had done so wrong.
A release
That would open the heavens
For me and all to see.
But that face of fear,
It stared back at me.
I dare not object it,
For my fate could be sinister.
I just sat there and looked.
With that same fear etched on my face.
It wasn't until
Six days and seven nights
That I came to realize,
The fear that I feared,
The face that stared at me,
Was only me.
A reflection inside
That no one else could see.
It was then and only then,
That I could make my escape,
And live my world in peace.

I really enjoyed how you turned your poem into a story and who you convey that one has to face their fears. That what we fear most is the fear inside of us and not really fear itself. Keep writing, looking forward to read more!
