Heavens HighwayA Poem by BreadrunA poem about a man killed in a car accident meeting his makerAs I drove on by, my faithful quest Hundreds of miles, without a rest My companion the moon, with stars by his side My conscience clear and nothing to hide In the slow lane, I slumber along The dark night road, that is the A1 It goes for miles, plenty a curve Now I drift, right into the curb My eyes get weak for I am tired My bed is now admired Accelerating with my feet I drift into a heavy sleep As I dream , of what may be My car gets nearer to a tree Edging closer, certain death My body will be test I wake up from my dreary sleep My car all twisted in a heap Outside the car is where I stand Beneath my feet, the earthy ground I see myself from a different view Realise that my life is through Will I meet heavens king Or will I meet hells ghastly thing My body gets paler and oblique The mighty one is who I seek The light shines bright from where I stand About to meet gods faithful hand He cradles me, so gentle and sweet Holds me tight, until we meet You are my father, blissful and kind I’m glad you were in my mind I do not know what is to be But one thing I am sure His love is there for all to see You know my soul is pure
