A Poem by BrittBratt

When I look back at my life,

I can't help but wonder why I'm so nice

Then I remember how you helped raise me to be,

Sweet, polite,  nice and kind.

But now it's making me go out of my mind.

I think about you two often.

My love for you guys will never soften.

We all had to say goodbye.

Man how the years flew by.

But now what can we say or do?

Your time on this beautiful Earth has past.

It wet so very fast.

You guys helped raise us two brats.

You taught us so much.

How to cook for dinner, breakfast and lunch.

To fight for what we think is right.

For what we believe in.

My memories of you two are growing dim.

But I shall not forget what you taught us.

And I'll try not to cuss.

About the time we've missed.

However, I'll always treasure the great memories.

And share these,

With my kids  when the time comes.

Everything you've taught me, will be passed on,

I love you two

And when my time is due

I'll see you again

Both you great men.

Always my fathers.

Author's Note

BrittBratt
Both these extraordinary men I speak of are named David and raised my sister and I from diapers up until our unfortunate move of 2005. In 2009 one passed on of a brain tumor in his sleep, the same year nearly down to the day he was to come and marry my Mom, the other passed of liver cancer and diabetes, only a hair shy of a year later. Although I know they are still with us and no longer in pain or suffering, I curse the taker for making the rest of us slowly dwindle until we met again.
