Broken Hearts, I Salute You

Broken Hearts, I Salute You

A Poem by BrassBee

I salute the broken hearted

Out of billions one caught your eye

And that one recognized something eternal and beautiful in you

I recognize your luck

Deep fissures speak of deeper passions

Such things are not undertaken by the faint-hearted

I recognize your bravery

Beauty untried is not yet beautiful

Even so a heart untried, while still a heart, lacks something elemental

Beauty has already walked your path

The way is prepared for it to come again

Despair if you must

Call out to death

But in the depths (fires) of hell we find our true selves

If luck and bravery are with us we can bring some small part of that back to the daylight worlds

While I am rarely so brave myself

At least I am no longer afraid of death

For when I die my soul will splinter

And reside (in beauty) within

The hearts and minds and spirits of all those I love or have loved

Still needs some reworking as the rhythm is disjointed. Commentary would be appreciated.
