Thrown Away

Thrown Away

"

Walking away from civilization

"
Thrown Away (November 2010)

I wish I could I throw away

My clothes today;

And no longer care

What people say.

I would walk the streets

Naked and bear;

With a thick long beard

And nappy hair.

With concrete feet

And wind worn skin;

I'll destroy my ego

And truly live.

But he only looks on

And he laughs away.

For he knows I can't

Ever throw it away.

This is rad!!! The earth is calling out to you to be yourself but this man made society holds us down with humility! My favorite part:
I'll destroy my ego
And truly live.
AND
I would walk the streets

Naked and bear;

With a thick long beard

And nappy hair.

Wouldn't it be fantastic to walk away...naked from the pressures of society, away from the stresses that are placed upon us daily through existing within the rigid framework as laid down by ourselves, our peers. We are so bound by expectations, ego driven limitations of the 'civilized' world...wouldn't it be wonderful, just to live, free, naked and bare (well...dunno about the bare part so much...age and gravity is a nasty bedfellow!)...but, I'll happily live free with skin worn (who cares about wrinkles and freckles when you're free?) no ego, wearing bear skin! ... I really enjoyed the images this thought provoking piece conjured in my mind...Grrrr job!

I must admit this poem had me pretty amused. The concept of 'returning to nature' is a spiritually commendable and somewhat virtuous one, but the idea of it in the context of our 'civilized' society seems quite ridiculous. The fact that we do live in a society at all is what creates the ego in the first place, so it is humorously inevitable that we would find it impossible to disrobe. This poem neatly and realistically shows us that human weakness.
Nicely written, and entertaining.

That`s wonderful, like you look yourself from aside...You need one thing, you make it happen, but in another way...

. it's quite a thought ... and maybe a lot of us would like to try and walk away ... but yeah ... it's hard to let go ... this is amazingly well written ... i agree with lily ... great flow ...
