Prayer

Prayer

A Poem by Light
"

The power of prayer

"

Prayer (2009)

I looked to my father

And prayed for power.

He handed me a gun

And said “don’t be a coward.”

I looked to my mother

And prayed for life.

She handed me a knife

And said protect what’s mine.

I looked to my sister

And prayed for wealth.

She handed me a hammer

And said “build it yourself.”

I looked to my wife

And prayed for love.

She handed me a condom

And said “wrap it up.”

I looked to my children

And prayed for happiness.

They simply looked back

Not knowing what I meant.

Really I feel like we have something in common in style and way of writing! I like that very much...and great end :)

praying for others may meet with success.
Prayers for yourself are only selfishness
that does not mean prayers are powerless.
It all depends on you I guess
