Love, Dull thy blade

Love, Dull thy blade

A Poem by Kassie
"

Written in Iambic pentameter, inspired by being on hormones for a few months. With Sex drive gone, it is clear that a lot of what I thought was love was just lust.

"

Oh love, gaze upon your bloody victim

Poked all over with your sharp stiletto

Flesh and soul scarred with broken promises

I have in these years many, unmasked you

Lust has hidden behind such a sharp blade

Deceitful of its true intentions here

Pulsing blood abandoned rational thought

And made cupid to be a monstrous fool

Like a stranger, love, behind a dark screen

I have never truly seen you naked

Yet as a wounded baby bird called to thee

When my night’s thickness had overwhelmed me

Loneliness answered the vampire's request

To come within my souls sacred temple

Lust as predator answered my loud cry

And sacked the holy of their possessions

It is now with vision clear do I see

That sharp fangs answered loneliness’s cry

Drained it of its vigor but grew its weight

That it should press me down into the earth

Love veritas witness my whole being

Dull thy blade, shave the dirt from the gravestone

I am Lazarus, you must simply call

I will rise again from lonely nights sleep
