The End

The End

A Poem by Brad P

The End, a poem"By: Bradley Pearl

Shot for the moon, plunged back empty-handed,

Many landed head first

Cursed, the way we’re branded,

Scan the land around me,

Should I seek the shore before the water drowns me?

I’m submerged and on the verge of death,

What’s next?

The question, though profound, just never seems to ground me-

But all I seeks an end…

Just an end…

Or maybe I just need a new beginning,

Won’t hold my breath

It seems a poet’s death is too befitting,

Plagued with indecision,

My attempts at redemption all have faltered,

Altered the course of my life,

Hung up on by faith every time I called her

But all I seeks an end…

Just an end…

Or maybe I just need a clean slate,

To escape the void filled with this extreme hate,

I’ve seen fate work first hand,

Lost hope at some point during my travels,

A higher power’s just a scam,

A plan to keep you too weak to fight your battles,

But all I seeks an end…

Just an end…

Or maybe I just need to question life and find its meaning,

Thought I had the answer

But it turns out that looks can be deceiving,

I’m still grieving in my own way,

Some thoughts are still on leaving,

Because all I seeks an end…

Just an end…

Or maybe I just need a new route,

There’re new doubts at every turn and curve,

Something I can do without,

So I seek the end…

Just an end…

But maybe I’m just too grim and nihilistic,

I’m too down on myself and twisted

To bring myself to grin or smile on a visit,

So I always seek the end…

Just an end…

But then I think of all their mornings mourning,

While i’m ignoring all the pain around me

As though it’s all just boring,

But it’s storming my defenses,

Left defenseless ‘til I’m back to that which numbs me,

Dulling all my senses,

Which is a path to the end…

Just an end…

Which is all I really seek,

Or is it peace I want? And I’m just too blind to see,

But nevermind me, what about these so-called friends?

I’m still trying to find a reason

That explains why they pretend,

But then all I seeks an end…

Just an end…

But it keeps going on and on,

Round and round it goes

When all I want is to be gone,

Because all I seeks an end…

Just an end…

Which I can find with a bullet quick,

And your opinions are like a******s,

Basically full of s**t,

But so many people also want my end…

Just an end…

Which is why my life’s resuming,

I have nothing left to prove

So fuckers keep it moving,

They’re assuming they can make me end…

Just an end…

These snakes hissing, slither in the grass,

Or all the rats still mad, still bitter from the past,

Which is why they want my end…

Just an end…

Which is why I just keep going,

Throw myself into each day

As long as my blood keeps flowing,

And I go into each one knowing

That some s**t will never change,

The pain just keeps increasing

And the days are all the same,

And they never seem to end…

Just an end…

Then suddenly I see the sunrise,

But I just want to see it set,

I want to see the light just one time,

Still haven’t seen it yet,

They say it’s in a tunnel,

I heard it’s at the end…

Just an end…

But f**k it, it’s a new day,

Its not the end,

Just an end,

And I guess that that’s a start,

Take apart and analyze

the thoughts that paralyze me after dark,

my heart inside is warm,

but the outside’s frozen over,

wonder why when I get the cold shoulder

from people, I just want to hold them closer,

they push me to an end…

just an end…

But f**k it, we can jump on three,

Fool me once it’s on you,

Fool me twice it’s on me,

Three times then it’s the end…

Just an end…

Makes me realize the s**t just isn’t worth it,

Realize I’ve known life’s meaning,

Something only I could misinterpret,

The meaning of life is that it ends…

Just an end…

So live your life until its over,

Sure it has its ups and downs,

Sometimes it’s like a rollercoaster,

So enjoy the ride until the end…

Just an end…

Because the end is when it stops,

And you’re either burned to ashes

Or rotting in a box

And that’s the end…

THE END…

This is beyond words that I can convey, (I'll try). As with Carolynn's comment, I nearly sang it to an unwritten tune. It is truly well done!

Wow this was amazing and read like a rap song....I almost sang it the whole way through. I have a more fluffy approach to life and the end lol but this was really good.
