Hiking On Cliff Tops

Written for the Creative Poetry Group - using the words: abstruse, tarnish, vat, beguiling, Tarpeia, waffle-stomper..."

there lies abstruse some contradiction in the word

and that belies the lustful tarnish of your skin

reflections of gold dispensing knowledge too absurd

abandoned and drowning in your own vat of sin

beguiling all the day hopping cross rocks and roots

as tiny-tipped Tarpeias reach for reprisal

painting honey soles onto waffle-stomper boots

apt redemption as a tool of self-despisal
