Find Coffee With Me
A Poem by Brad Nugent
we all met at one of those regular haunts a lovely little English-themed pub crowded full with workday end noise and smoke and my usual nerves
tangible had me sitting alone in a padded corner drinking pint on pint and drowning in views of you smiling and dancing excited contentment wrapped into another man's arms
interminably until we broke free and staggered through town headed for any club past the point of caring about consequences or mornings or all other things
on the horseshoe bridge leaning against chill and buffeting breezes all laughing in gasping and shared absent sense
and oh so amused at someone's suggestion that maybe we should find coffee instead
a chuckle prolonged and then caught like that sideways glance I connected with you no doubt not intended but then
perhaps it is time to find coffee after all

Having stood on that bridge in that state this poem appealed to me greatly! A regular past time during the years of my misspent youth.
I can almost see the interior of the pub with its English themed decor and oversized beer glasses! The same rowdy crowd in them all.
And I agree, by that time it is definitely time to find coffee after all!
