Cape Leeuwin

Cape Leeuwin

A Poem by Brad Nugent

perched at the point
where oceans converge
colliding in an ecstasy
of salt spray spumes
a lonely lighthouse
beckons in vain
while high above
competing waves
a gull wheels
round and rails
against winds
caught between
and crying
a silent
surrender

This poem is so beautiful and has a certain air of wistfulness or nostalgia, certainly for me as I have spent some time in that part of the world!
