My Life Sentence

My Life Sentence

A Poem by Boxcat

I used
to be so
small that
they put me
in a box and laughed
at me, but they didn’t know
that I would grow but I did grow:
I grew and soon their box started to
feel smaller until the box could no longer
hold me, and everyone saw the person that they
had shoved aside was no longer quiet; he was stronger
now and would never be silenced, and he realized this was is fate:
to be different from the people who put him in boxes and hated him for using his voice.
