The fairy and the unicornA Story by BoxcatI got a prompt from a friend. It was, "Unicorn is murdered by a Fairy."
Once, there was a far-off kingdom. In the kingdom, there were creatures of all kind. Fairies, Demons, and Angels lived in peace there. The roads stretched out for miles, and it seemed like it was the whole living kingdom. But it was not. Outside this kingdom, there was an abyss. The darkness stretched out for longer than time can tell, and what lurked in there, no one knew.
But this is not important right now. Our story is one of a girl named Linda. Linda was a beautiful fairy born into a poor family. One day, the prince, an other unicorn, sought a wife, a queen to rule with him. He had a ball, to find this girl. Linda wanted to go, but her evil mother would not let her go. So, that night, she used her magic to sneak out of the house and go. The prince fell in love with her and that night, they were wed. The mother tried to stop them, but the guards killed her before she could stop the marriage. They were wed that day, and happiness came throughout the kingdom. Soon after their marriage, the abyss reached out into the kingdom. It came in the form of a formidable unicorn. Standing strong, it rushed into town, and headed into the town for the palace. Linda saw the beast coming, and planned an attack. She waited for the beast, and surprised it. The beast tried to fight, but Linda killed the monster. The beast laid there dying, and said, “You are evil.” The beast died after saying her pathetic speech, and her body was disposed of, and they lived happily ever after. There was a girl named Linda. Born into a poor family, she learned very early on that if she wanted something, she should take it, by whatever means necessary. Early on she was pickpocketing and manipulating people. Bullying became second nature, and everyone feared her. She had everything in the world, but still she wanted more. So she took it. There was a ball that a beautiful lady would be crowned queen. She would, after tonight, rule the entire known world. But first, preparation. First, her mother hated her. She possessed a little magic though, that she had saved for a special time. She took it, and put her mother in a deep sleep for the night. She didn’t have enough for murder. Then, she was there. The ball was everything that you could imagine. Everyone was there, from the pixies to the giantesses. Every lady in the kingdom wanted to marry the prince. He was the definition of beauty. Even Linda’s beauty paled in comparison to his. His true beauty was shone from inside him. He was a gentleman but friendly at the same time. Looking into his eyes was looking into a sea of glass, swirling around in fragile elegance. By the time night was over, he would be wed to Linda. There was one problem though, Bella. Bella was a gorgeous pixie, a kind soul that only happened once in a millennia. Though she would never admit it, Bella was everything she wanted. She was liked by everyone, and had a natural, untampered beauty. She had to go. Linda walked up to her by the food stand, and introduced herself. “Hello, My name is Linda. I am sorry but I don’t think a fairy would want to marry a pixie like you. I mean, how embarrassing is that? You are tiny compared to him! Imagine what your children would look like. They would be Ugly!” Bella teared up, and grabbed a knife in the buffet and stabbed herself. Tears rolled down her face as blood rolled down her dress. Linda smiled, and walked off. The servants will dispose of her now. The prince was hers now. She made her advances, and after everyone saw what happened to Bella, the competition thinned. When she finally met the prince, he knew it was meant to be. Her beauty was incomparable to any other girl there, and wed her there. What he did not know was that when Linda’s mother woke up, she ran to the palace, and was killed. All he knew was that he has found his one true love, Linda. For the rest of the story to be told, we must tell it from different perspective. From a different Linda. Linda was born into a poor family. One day, before she even turned one, something terrible happened. From the abyss came a force to terrible that nothing could stop it. It was Fate Itself. It stole the baby and replaced it with a creature of the darkness. The kingdom had oppressed the dark for far too long, and balance must be restored. This new baby’s identity was only know by her parents. They were sworn to never tell the secret. Their pride was overcome and they became new people. The husband became determined to beat Fate. He told everyone he knew what had happened. He died, and everyone he told died. The mother became humble, and lived with her monster child, until she tried to break the curse herself. The baby was sent into the Abyss where it was raised by the creatures there. They cared for her and nurtured her. She learned of what had happened and wanted to see herself in the other kingdom. What did she look like? She dreamed of the prince that she would never know. There was a prince in that kingdom, too. Sleek in beauty and fair but a dark soul. She was married to him also, and the stage was set. Ever since her youth, the pixie had been saving her magic. It built over time, and she never used it. She did everything by hand, enduring through the pain of suppressing her magic from leaking out until the day had come. It was a half moon: equal parts light and dark. Her magic had reached a peak. She with her husband fused their power and formed a giant beast. It was a beautiful unicorn, one like the ones in the kingdom. She passed the dark into the light and headed for the palace. She wanted to meet her other self and unite to struggle the battle of light and dark. Light and Dark, ruling together in peace. No longer fighting. But the other did not feel the same. She saw her in the distance and prepared herself. The light of the world had overcome her and she became proud and evil. She killed the Dark. Once she was dead, Linda took her power and hers and grew into a monster fiercer than any other. Fate came to stop her, since no one creature should hold all the power. It came to her, but she was ready. She took only as small portion of her newfound power and with a whisper, Fate was no more. The people of the Light in the kingdom grew fearful of their new leader. Their pride was overcome by fear and terror as she conquered the living world. She had everything she ever wanted, and this time, there was no one who could stop her. The End. © 2018 Boxcat |
