Meet me on the battlefield

Meet me on the battlefield

A Poem by Hayllie
"

Inspiration from "Svrcina- Meet me on the Battlefield"

"
War, Pain, Honor, Fear
memories I wish to forget
Things I know I can't

Through the storm,
through the blood and tears,
We continue forward
because we remember what we are fighting for

 No time for rest
Nowhere to run, no way to forget
shadows cover us
The world always dark, always black
No source of light in sight

Face to face, with our own human race
The same sins as generations before
replaying on repeat
We commit the sins again

We could change
We could be better
If we could just stand up and unite
We don't have to follow history's path

The generation unafraid
for the heirs to come

echoes of the shots ring out
We will be the first to fall
but those behind will stand up
One day this will end
no more tired soldiers in this war
remember what we fought for, died for
Carry on through the storm
No more echo's of the shots
No more death
Peace, Love, Hope
All new life as we watch
the new generation choose a different path than ours before

My inspiration for this came from the song "Meet me on the Battlefield" By Svrcina..If you've never heard the song, please pull it up and listen to it. Such a beautiful and emotional piece.

I love this poem. It's very inspirational & that's what our country needs these days. So many use words that tear people down & divide us into groups, as if everything within that group is homogeneous. The strength of this piece, to me, is that you use the pronoun "we" which has a unifying effect, rather than sounding preachy like "you" -- talking at people. There's a perfect balance between sounding soft & understanding, but also sounding strong & uplifting. I love that your message doesn't devolve into blame or fomenting. This is about as balanced a message as anyone can write about "our times" -- & I get the idea that the youth need to get behind this feeling & this idea, which is something I really agree with. I'm sorry we old farts messed things up so much, but this would be a positive & inspiring way to lead youthful warriors thru the mess we left you! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

You are most welcome. I enjoy reading your writing!
we are fighting on so many different battlefields today...battling a pandemic, racial tensions, economic skirmishes...the battlefield is on many levels...and this is a poignant piece of writing.

Thank you so much for your thoughts..Makes you wounder where our world is truely headed!?
A heartfelt plea that echos across the globe. One would think human kind might have learned from the battles of the past and recent times. Two world wars have not dampened man's propensity to kill for greed and dominance.
