Tied Down

Tied Down

A Poem by Mark Witterick

A depth of secrets,

Hidden below.

Adventures cut short and

Journeys incomplete.

We weigh on

Anchored by constraints

We must free.

Hope abounds.

Yet;

We drown in despair.

Optimism remains

Though the sinking feeling doth spread,

As more and more try their luck.

Rare but not unknown.

That elated feeling when success

Rises from the dark wet chasm.

But more will fall,

Over time.

Lost to the world.

Absorbed by the unknown.

The cycle keeps turning,

The propeller does spin.

The end in sight?

Just a mere whim.

That was a beautiful piece of writing. I want to say well done on the wording and how you put it all together. I can picture each stanza and I feel as if I am their. It really makes the reading think in some aspects witch I believe is perfect. Congratulations.
