The Trees Have GoneA Poem by ~A.J.P.~One of my first. A simple poem about a forest that has been cut down. A shorter version of this was published under the title, Where Are They?.
•The trees have gone--
•Their leaves no longer fill the air.
•The branches sweetly whispering
•Have left I know not where.
•In my dreams, I see them,
•Walking slowly along dark paths of stone--
•Or being chained and taken captive,
•Kidnapped from fields they called home.
•Today I stand here thinking.
•I can hear the parched ground cry,
•For its tall protectors have been taken;
•Their branches now no longer touch the sky
