You were there and now your not

i wrote this poem for my mom after she past away in 93

              “You were there and now you’re not”

You were there when I laid my head down
You were there until I fell in to a dream like slumber,

You were there when I was scared and needed safety
You were there when I needed comfort.


You were there when I need a friend
You were there when I needed help

You were there when I laid my head down
You were there until I fell in to my dream like slumber

When I awoke in the morning you weren’t there
You weren’t there in my biggest problem

You had been taken from me in the night
By someone who needed you elsewhere
I thought it wasn’t fair
Why should I share my best friend and comfort?

I thought I'd never live another day without you
But, in all honesty you where there in my heart

You’ll always be there for me
In and though my heart and will always remain with me

And I thank god that I had the time I did with you.
