An Aspect on GodA Story by JustOneWriter~Another look at religion~God? There is no such thing as god. There is no one entity that rules over the entire universe. So tell me this, why do we believe in god? Why do we believe in someone so powerful? Why do we put so much faith in someone or something that we can’t even prove exist? Why do you believe in god? If you truly think about it, you can find the answer yourself. The answer is very simple. You were raised to believe in god. Ever since you were young, your parents have taught you about god. They taught you that he was the almighty lord, who rules over us all. For the first three years of our life, we are the most susceptible to learning how to do things from others. So when you are young and you hear about god constantly, then the chances of you being religious are very high. So as you see, the only reason that you truly believe in god is because that was the way you were raised. Most people do not like change, and switching between belief in god is a major change. But that major change is necessary, because once we go through that change, then our views of others will also change for the better. People who were raised to be religious, will always be arguing with others over religion, or just trying to convert others to their religion. They are always sticking there noses where it doesn’t belong. They are always aggravating people over something as silly and stupid as religion. But then lets look at the people who were raised by atheists. They grew up, never caring about god, or caring about religion. They turned out a lot better and nicer than people who were raised to be religious. And do you know why that is? It is because they do not care for religion. They do not have pointless arguments with others about whose religion is better. They accept everyone, because they were not raised to judge others by their beliefs, or by how strongly those beliefs are. And they do not go up to people who do not share their belief, and try to convince them to convert to their own beliefs. I, myself am Jewish. And you do not understand just how much it infuriates me to know end when people come to me, preaching about their religion, and how I need to convert to whatever religion they’re preaching about. I remember one day I was just sitting at home, and I hear someone knock on the door. They were some Christians walking around door to door talking about their religion. Before they could really tell me anything about it, I told them that I was Jewish and I wasn’t really interested, so they left. Lo and behold, they were back the very next day. Again I answered the door, and again they start to tell me about Christianity. However what I noticed is that there were more people than there were the day before. This agitated me to no end. I have already told a part of the group that I was Jewish, and I was not interested in converting to Christianity. Yet here they were again trying to convince me otherwise! And with a larger group too, in a sense they were basically threatening me. Now you probably are starting to see just some of the problems that religion cause. But while you were reading that one paragraph, I know the one thing that was on your mind. How can I be Jewish, and not believe in god? Well first, I do not completely agree with the entire idea of Atheism, but I don’t agree with the idea that one single entity ruling over the entire universe. And second, to be Jewish does not mean that you have to believe in god. To be Jewish means that you follow the rules and beliefs of Judaism. However there is also another way. You can also be born into the religion. If your mother is Jewish, then when you are born you are also Jewish. So as you can see, I am not Jewish by choice. I was born into the religion, actually more like I was forced into the religion. Maybe because I was forced into that religion, that I have such views on religion. I do not know, but this is just how I perceive religion. God is fear. We, as humans, are afraid of choices. We have no self-confidence. The words, “what if?” plagues are minds constantly. “What if make the wrong mistake?” or “What if something bad happens because of my choice?” and mostly “What if I lose her/him?” These are just some of the questions that are constantly swimming around un our minds. They plague are subconscious with worry and doubt. We are constantly worrying about all the choices that we make in life. So what did we do to make it easier on our conscious? We created the concept of god. We said that we were created in god’s image, and in a way we share the choices that he would make. So this gives us confidence in our choice, because we are making the choice that god would want us to take. So in a way, the choices we take are blessed by god. This single one thought brings such great relief to our subconscious and our conscious. It lifts the veil of all that worry, it helps us to let that worry go. That thought of god watching over our choices helps to relieve the stress of those worries. And when we created god, we also created heaven and hell. And with the creation of heaven, we created a tranquil and peaceful place where we can reside in after death and be happy. And thus when we created god and heaven, we found a way to not fear death and to claim that we control death. But deep down we know that we created god and heaven so we weren’t controlling fear, we were just masking it with denial. But somewhere along the decades and centuries that we have existed, we have forgotten this truth. So now, we are not masking it with denial, but now we are masking it with ignorance. Somewhere along the line, we lost sight of who we are. We have gone so deep within the grasps of religion and god, that we have grown blind. Religion and god has sunk its roots in everything. Where we live, how we view others, reasons for war, even the food we eat! And the most important thing that we lost sight of was that we need fear. © 2011 JustOneWriter |
