SummerA Poem by Adam FaisonThis is the second in a series of four poems about the four seasons.
The heat proves to be too much
As it has in Summers Past The plants slowly begin to die The land becomes famished and scorched Sweat pours from the face of man His only protection from the heat A storm from the horizon comes closer day by day The breath of God blows the trees The breeze from his lungs grows faster Giant twisters began to ravage the land Ripping nature from it's roots Rain comes with false hope The pores of the Earth overfill But suddenly it starts to calm The storms grow farther away as the temperature falls This grace comes with a price though Nature will be saved for now But some of it must begin to die For Fall is on it's way But only to prepare nature for a worse fate The fate of the ravaging Winter A fate even more ruthless than the Summer Past
