Why Does It Hurt So Much?

Why Does It Hurt So Much?

A Poem by Adam Faison

Why does the pain of the heart hurt the most
Why does it hurt the most when you lose the one closest to you
Why does it hurt the most to see them with someone else
It hurts the most because they are a part of your heart
And they have been ripped from it
It hurts the most because of how you feel about them
It hurts the most because of your love for them
It hurts the most because they are the one that you want to be with
It hurts the most because you think without them
There is no hope
You sit in depression because without them you are lost
You sit alone because they have left you that way
You sit alone because you know you can be with no one else
But then as you ask yourself
"Why does it hurt so much?"
She walks up
No not the one you lost
But the one you always had
Your best friend
She holds you tight and tells you it is ok
And it is ok
Because she is here today and forever
The true person you can't live without
Your closest friend, your best friend
The sister that you never had
