Losing You

Losing You

A Poem by Adam Faison

If I lost you
I would not know what to do
You are my best friend
My closest friend
The one I love
I do not want to think about losing you
But it may be what I have to do
It may inevitable
Because you seem to slowly drift away everyday
We used to be the closest of friends
But now you barely speak to me
I try to help you through pain
But now my words seem to mean nothing to you
My feelings seem to mean nothing to you
Years later I look back
And I remember you
When we used to be so close
But then I remember the pain in the end
The pain of losing you
I try to push the thoughts away
But they just stay
Then I remember when you had begun to change
The wall that was put in between me and you
I always hated that wall
But then I think
I guess it was meant to be
And I was never meant to be with you
You had begun to lean on the wall instead of me
The wall stayed for years
But it fell away from you in the end
I would have always been there for you
But you pushed me away
When all I wanted to do was stay
Maybe we will meet again some day
And maybe this time you will let me stay

This was so sad, yet beautifully worded. I know I've built the wall myself before, in fear of being hurt I suppose. Instead of it crumbling on itself though, I suppose my Husband decided he was going to take a sledgehammer to that sucker himself xD But every person is different, and time sometimes heals all wounds. Losing someone you've always been close to, is not an easy thing to go through. But just as you said, maybe one day, they'll come around. It'll just be left to you if you're still waiting on the other side of the wall or not.
