True Friend

True Friend

A Poem by Yue Zhang

“You have lies upon your lips.”

I said as I held my hand against the wall,

Begging for support

As the world reeled around me.

How far must I dig into your conspicuous lies,

To find that you were exactly as I thought of you,

In my most melancholy, nasty, mean times.

Don't do this.

Friendship is a hard thing to come by,

But once you’re sincere, you’ve got all the time from there

To build a lasting, loving bond.

So, hold out your arms and let go of your insecurities.

Being a friend means loving all your flaws;

I love you for you, so please love me too.
