Fire and IceA Story by OllieThey reach a temperature equilibrium, for now.Frost laced out from her hand as she ran her fingers lightly across the wall, she chilled the room to announce her presence. He sat obliviously on the couch, reading the same book for the past two hours and not making much progress. She would have finished it by now. She stepped towards the couch, footprints forming into ice wherever she chose to place her feet, frost detailing over it. With a smirk in place she stepped behind her unknowing prey as he remained perfectly distracted by his reading. After a moment of preparation she shoved her frost bitten fingers down the back of his shirt and neck. She laughed delightedly as he screamed from shock and cold, laughter only intensifying as he begged for mercy. Before he could retaliate she danced away and claimed her spot on the opposite end of the couch. Once he recovered he tossed the book onto the coffee table and turned to face his frozen friend. She gave no mercy as she placed her arctic feet on his leg, but since he was prepared this time he recovered faster to knock her feet away. He grabbed her arms pulling her into his warm embrace, ignoring the frost that frantically spread over his skin only to melt just as soon as it was formed due to the fire in his blood. Eventually it stopped forming altogether. Slowly but surely her skin faded from tundra blue to the natural tan from being Kalaallit when so long ago she was human. The ice that decorated her hair melted leaving nothing but her long dark brunette hair. Thanks to her glacial blood her fiery friend also changed colors from a deep rust to the lighter brown given to him by his Timbisha Shoshone roots. They both gave out deep sighs of contentment as their extreme temperatures finally evened out. Her blood circulating faster thanks to his warmth, and his taking a rest bit from rushing through his veins. Soon they would have to part from one another, letting their extremes take ahold once again, though neither of them wanted to let go. If they were to hold on for too long she would blister from the heat and he would get frostbite from the cold. Just another moment, just one more second, then they will part, he only holds her for one more minute and she lets him for one more heart beat, one more breath, just one more.© 2016 Ollie |
