Darknes

Darknes

A Poem by Anne Hudson
"

Darkness is always there. Fear is "darkness", but it's not. Nothing can destroy or stop darkness but you can shatter fear. Fear is yours to believe, it can always be controlled. Darkness, is real

"
You watch the light grow.
It grows like a powerful sun,
becoming trust,
help,
life,
dreams,
safety.
Suddenly it burns out.
The sun is swallowed and nothing is left.
The dark night sky peels away safety,
dreams,
life,
help,
trust.
Black swarms around everything,
and none stays alive.
Devistated and twisted beyond recognition,
so dark and burnt it's no longer real.
It covers minds and shatters dreams.
It's the object that lifts you high,
straight into the air
over thousands of feet
holding by a single string as it twists,
threatening to break;
with a loud Snap.
It swallows whole,
around the very life of a dream.
It breaks it as it struggles to break free.
To survive another day,
but it never works.
Trapped in a jar,
held by nothing more then fate;
the hands of fear and danger.
Darkness stands by you,
testing you and laughing.
Smashing you into the tiniest of spaces,
then throwing the key away.
It chucks you into a chasm of despair,
lost,
hopelessness,
fear,
pain.
Trying to find the surface.
It then caves down,
destroying everything.
Again.
And again.
And again...
You scream but nothing,
nothing is heard.
You feel the pain,
as it grows,
feeling it eating you alive.
Running never helps,
for you trip and scream harder.
Nothing comes.
It only makes you try to break free more,
when you know you never can.
The heart of your life,
feeling your heart beat faster and faster,
feeling like your alive,
is torn.
Darkness reaches straight into you,
and the life is gone.
Nothing ever comes.
Light never prevails.
Darkness is everything

Nice poem! I took it literally though since I've never really been able to find the deeper meaning in poetry, but it explains darkness pretty well I would have to say. Also, I only found two spelling errors.

1. In line 9 "safty" is spelled "safety."

2. In line 12 I thought that maybe it's supposed to be "safely" not "safety." I was just curious.

That's all! Have a nice day!
