In the Silence

Long after all the chaos, when the visitors have gone home,
When the only sound is silence, and you feel so all alone.
When the clock begins to tick again, yet you cannot tell the time,
When songs are sung and stories told, but for you they’ve lost their rhyme.

When the world it starts to spin once more, but you feel you’re left behind,

And the happy sound of laughter brings old memories to mind.
When the tears just won't stop coming and the breaths are harder draw, 

When your thoughts are hard to handle, emotions drained and raw.

When your heart is close to breaking, and you cannot take much more, 

It’s then that I am watching, I’m only at the door.
I know you thought I’d left you, but I heard you as you cried,
I tried to reach out and touch you, I never left your side.

I’m very quietly waiting, in the silence of your heart, 

Although I know that sometimes, it feels we’re worlds apart.

I’m free now as the swallow, that sails on breeze and wing,
I had to take this journey, my soul has learned to sing.

So search for me no more now as you go about your days, 

Live your life as I lived my mine, show love in all your ways. 

Smile as though you mean it, and very soon you’ll see,
That life is meant for living, go and live it now for me!
