A Secret Kept

A Secret Kept

A Poem by Bonnie Paige

A secret kept

Twinkling sunlight peeking softly between this forest of trees.
Old is my Twilight hours, broken are my nights. This isn't long ago it's here and now.

Like memories of those peaceful rides alone and along Colorado's rustic trails. He guided me tenderly and quietly down paths and shallow streams, I counted on his gentle ways as mindlessly I became absorbed in nature's beauty.

Troubled mind keeping hidden secrets. I wandered down the twisted paths of brown and green undisturbed earth, I gathered all that fell before me. Fallen leaves, fallen branches, fallen pine cones and seeds ever dying, ever reborn.

The air of steady sweetness sweeps across it all. Here is my sanity he never lost his way bringing me from my alienations to my prudence. I end my forest ride in calmness
by beginning the ending pace at the green wide field of open pasture. I let him take the reins and we are flying free into the wind. Planes flew at the Air Force Academy. I flew high on my limited sound of mind.

From my euphoric High
I crash to my lowest of lows. No more flying high from the fires in my heart. Data has reached his limit and life brings it all to the end. Letting go…so painful. But, secretly month after month I count as many as eleven J' etais secrétement á toi, toujours á toi, and
Broken yours.

Please, please forgive me for not having read this superbly written poem, Bonnie; had thought you had stopped writing some time ago (about ten months or so) Then you left me a brief message. Sigh, feel guilty now. .

Your words here are both super and heartbreaking. You go from bliss and happiness to the lowest of low.. those french words add even more of your time with your darling. How kind it would be for time to heal you.. maybe one day you can hug and hold those happy times.. dear Lord. I so hope so . Will message elsewhere Kee[ safe, dear Bonnie.

Sweet, beautiful and poignant. Memories become themselves after the living moment has passed. Sometimes the taste of tears is not only salty but bitter as well and we swallow back our anguish in the acceptance of grief. I have traveled that trail and found loneliness at the end. My heart aches with the author in the moment of empathy and loss. Very evocative writing. Well done. F.

A sad, but poetic write. A feeling of desolation at the end, but the roller coaster ride is clearly filled with some good memories too.
