CHRISTMAS Eve

CHRISTMAS Eve

A Poem by Bonnie Paige

Beginning life from beneath the demon's territory.
I was born ten fingers, ten toes, two eyes that wondered at the whirling world around me.
I breathed in the earth's summer air and gave out my sounding cry that I had arrived.

In my shiny new birthday suit, life rushed in like a hurricane at the famously known Bellevue, in a famously known city, New York.
But, I was never to be famously known.

From hospital to fosters, from fosters to forever home. Traveling that journey I'd already lived one lifetime.
Christmas Eve burned bright in Christian heart's, mine saw flames that took one life, one home and scarred me forever.
Only six months into my new life that seemed cursed by heaven above.

My safety zone was an endearing brother, as wise, as tender, as loving a child's heart allowed.
My only protection from the horrors put upon our tiny lives.
"I'm here, little sister, I will always protect you."

Entering the years our worlds began their separate journeys. His new world and my forever home.
There was no kindness in his world, no loving arms that soothed his aching heart and soul.
He died as a youth in the famously known city of New York... Never to be known.
My world stopped for many a year!

As all mourned that famous man on November 22nd I mourned my unfamous brother of my youth.

I've followed the laws of God and man. I Drank no spirits, engaged in no recreational drugs, worked for what was mine, loved only with the deepest love. And faltered very little in life's folly. They said, "she's trying too hard to be perfect!"

I never became rich nor famous but overcame what odds my history dealt me, the demon's stayed dormant, as I shut the world out, leaving very few to enter.

This world of modern thoughts and ways has created many a story. As this story reaches no fairy-tale ending I can only say vini vici veni!
Overcoming what many had dragged them under
