The GiftA Poem by Bonnie PaigeTHE GIFT Harden, cynical, bitter and old, built the walls of my heart. Unforgiving pain pushing my life onwards through his destructive last words. “Don’t!” being his final word. A man who never looked back, as I plotted and lived his everlasting thoughtless hurt. Drowning in my own darkness so very long the years. I wrote the book, I published the book, I finally announced the book. In my world surrounded by the bleakness of the moors the crumbling catatonia existence for life was fading. Thus came the Gift. Out of the damp dreary fog of hell came the long distant arms of comfort. So long ago his memory filled me with peaceful, loving kindness. Then I could only live in fantasy, casting my eyes downward knowing he would fade away. Strangers together again, returned to learn...to laugh at his laughter, to smile as he smiled, to revel in his joy - such elated pleasure! The air breathed for me. Thanking the heavens for remembering his sweetness and gentle ways, that hold no demands. He replaced the hands I had held so lovingly that turned into denial...with calming words. Reliving kisses that owned my soul, now a voice that speaks with reason. Images given, take the place of arms that held me tight then walked away. Yes...the Gift which came a year ago has captured my pneuma, learning day by day to place away heartless memories from the past. The heavens above sent you to be just my amity.© 2017 Bonnie PaigeReviews
