Elephant's Lament

We'll tip toe 'round the subject
Like an elephant in a dress-
It'll bound around quite easily
and doesn't make a slice of sense

But you'll keep asking questions
Which are seemingly obscure-
And I'll just keep wondering
and staring at the floor.

I'll take in your slurs of language
And you'll take in my pleas-
But we both know it won't happen
until I beg down on my knees

And that's the real issue
Which you're ready to avoid
It's a question of morality-
To try and clear the void.

So I'll sit here quite patient
And you'll interrogate me
Like an elephant in a tutu
You're all the same you see.

For the sadness in this piece I can't help but smile at the clever way it is written. The absurdness of the elephant in the tutu is equal to that of the mind games played buy some and suffered by others. Excellent.
