Father are you listening?

Father are you listening?

A Poem by boneman
"

A dark world of pain and sorrow........A man questions if his requests for help and guidance are being heard. Around him the world is burning and Eden lies desecrated and charred. A lone voice cries for help and the silence answers him.

"

Father are you listening?

There is something inside me
Emptiness
It feeds upon me
It eats away at me

I brush the dust from the crucifix
I am forsaken
It feeds upon me
It eats away at me

The darkness is coming
Bible black and starless
It feeds upon me
It eats away at me

I am prostrate and cruciform
Stigmata weep my sorrow
It feeds upon me
It eats away at me

I sob your name
Silence answers me
It feeds upon me
It eats away at me

Where are you?
Who are you?
Are you real?
Do you exist?

For what father visits pain
Upon his child
It feeds upon me
It eats away at me

Forgive me father
For I have sinned
It feeds upon me
It eats away at me

Father why has thee forsaken me?

Father take this pain away from me

Father, am I to die to receive your blessing?

Father I cry for your love

Father I bleed for your love

I am not Lazarus
No stone to open my tomb
Touch me make me believe
Speak unto me of your love

For I will tend Gethsemane
A garden fair I will shepherd
As I fell from Eden
I have fallen from grace

Father gather your flock
A wolf is in the garden
A snake is in the grass
Eden is burning

Where are you?
Can you hear me?
Are you listening?
Do you care?

Has man created a vengeful God?
Wrought in our own image
Brutal and uncaring
Mindless of his flock

Father if you can hear me
Bring the light unto me
I am an infant
I am helpless

Father why has thee forsaken me?

I wish the angels flew with me
I wish their wings would sweep me away
I wish their love would soothe a troubled soul

I wish the angels slept with me
I wish their breathing was all I heard
I wish their breasts were my cushion

I wish the angels flew through the night
I wish the angels flew from the sunset
I wish angels were there at dawn

If wishes could change my world
If wishes could redeem my soul
If wishes could absolve my sins

If wishes could stem Calvary’s flood
If wishes could turn the tide
If wishes could still the night

I search in the dark for my soul
I search the light for redemption
I search I search in vain

As the silence engulfs me
A scream escapes me
The horror before me

The church door hangs open
As I step inside
Disturbing hallowed saints
In honoured graves

I walk down the aisle
Footsteps echo round the empty church
Pews dusty with ancient memories
Sit waiting patiently for penitent souls

Further down the aisle
Wings flutter round the empty church
An angel lands before me
And turns her face away

A son is weeping
The altar drenched in tears
Father can you hear me?
Father why have you forsaken me?

I am prostrate and cruciform
Stigmata weep my sorrow
It feeds upon me
It eats away at me

For I walk through the valley
Of the shadow of death……….

Father why have you forsaken me?

The angel is weeping
I cannot silence her tears
I cannot comfort
I have desecrated divinity

Is my name sullen upon your lips?
Dry as the Golgotha dust
Do I hang cruciform to your right or left?
Impaled upon my sin

Is the skin in which I rejoiced
Now to condemn me?
Now both jury and executioner
Who will wash my blood from their hands?

Guilty of the sins I stand accused
In orgasm I stand condemned
In ecstasy I will be dammed
Guilty inside the carnal house

For you did not judge the lowly
All men as equal
The w***e upon her bower
The king upon his throne

Will you now condemn me?

Will you now turn away?

Will you forsake your child?

Will you?

Am I to die to seek redemption?
Absolution upon termination
Payable on death
Only solution for my sins

My Father I want to believe
I need to believe
There must be some order
Is this your plan?

Father take this pain away from me
Spit this cancer upon the dust
Father how can you watch this?
How can you see and do nothing?

How can you watch us kill?
How can you watch us destroy?
How can you watch us suffer?
How can you watch us die?

The world is burning
The stench of death pervades the air
Sticking to our souls
Blackening our hearts

Babylon fell
Sodom and Gomorra fell
Sin was punished
By your hand

A chosen few survived
Would you so casually destroy again?
Your creation divine
Your wrath absolute

Are you created or creator?
In your image or mine?
Are you merely in the eye of the beholder?
Or what we believe?

Has man created a vengeful God?
Wrought in our own image
Brutal and uncaring
Mindless of his flock

Your sheep are lost
A wolf is prowling
He is hungry
Your sheep are dying

Eden is burning
The snake has spoken
In many tongues
Insidious and scheming

I stand in ashen Eden
Desecrated and deflowered
A valley in the shadow of death
I do fear evil

I fear myself
For mortal born of sin
Can only die
Can only decay

Eden is burning
Father do you see?
Come quickly
Eden is burning

I watch it burning
In ecstasy I writhe
Copulating
While Eden is destroyed

Do you see father?
Do you apportion the blame?
Is this of my own volition?
Father it is burning

Are you mindless of your duty?
Or do we only exist to serve?
A trinket or a fancy
Cast off by a petulant child

The toy is broken Father
I hold out my hands
You do not answer
Though I weep for you

Father can you hear me?
Please father I am calling
Father I am dying
Father help me

My Father who art in heaven
Hallowed be they name
In kingdom come
Thy will be done…………

Father why has thou forsaken me?

Forever and ever……..

Amen

Hi Boneman. I think this is very good. I think alot of your writing has a timeless quality to it and this piece is no exception. It's dark, for sure, but its also full of pain and hopelessness. I think the man feels confusion as to how he got in this particular predictament as well as confusion as to why his questions aren't being answered. I think this is a fine piece of writing and shows a depth to you writing skills. I honestly think there is not a genre out there that you couldn't write exceptionally. Great job!

Interesting grapple with existence. I enjoyed the repetetive mantra in the beginning....it was almost like an interruption to the other thoughts that kept popping up. The entire piec is well done. I felt it.

Cheers!
