Hailing the Light.A Poem by Bonaventure OnuabuchiTo my friend Chukwumezie Nwanneka Jacinta, on her 20th birthday.
Friends are waiting in the garden.
The heavenly bodies on the mountain. Birds make field their haven. All waiting the time to hasten. I could only but let my pen bleed, And these words I spread. He that bestirred the light, greetings; To you, fount of glad tidings, And the womb that nurtured the shine, In gritted teeth, so long a whine: When pains were, and bleeding. Such flash of hell, respect for eating. Unto our world a light is given. Who to my heart is a perfect heaven. Her beam beckons the morning stars; They join me as I hail thee with rhymes. Now the awaiting has alight, And it's the second decade of our earth's light, Our voices sing beyond the garden And faces unknown are here to harken! © 2015 Bonaventure OnuabuchiFeatured Review
